Our Beliefs

The foundation of living.

Doctrine comes from the Greek word for teaching. Doctrine matters because how we live is motivated by how we think and what we think. This section reflects what our church teaches. We desire unity but not at the expense of biblically sound teaching so if you disagree about a particular doctrine, please don’t hesitate to talk to us.

  • We believe in One God, eternally existing in Three Persons: Father, Son, and Holy Spirit, having precisely the same nature, attributes and perfections.

    (Gen. 1:26; 3:22; 11:7; Deut. 6:4; Mt. 28:18-19; Jn. 1:1; 2 Cor. 13:14; Titus 2:13).

  • We believe in the Scriptures of the Old and New Testaments, which are the Word of God, verbally inspired and inerrant in the original manuscripts; and that they are the supreme and final authority in all faith and practice.

    (Mt. 4:4; Lk. 24:44; Jn. 10:35; 17:17; 2 Cor. 10:5-6; 2 Tim. 3:15-17; 1 Pet. 1:25; 2 Pet. 1:3, 20-21).

  • We believe that Our Lord Jesus Christ, the Second Person of the Trinity, was begotten by the Holy Spirit, born of the virgin Mary, and is the true God and true man, united in One Person forever, yet without confusion.

    (Isa. 7:14; Mt. 1:23; Lk. 1:35; Jn. 1:1; 14, 18; 2 Cor. 13:14; Gal. 4:4; Titus 2:13).

  • We believe that the Holy Spirit is the Third Person of the Trinity who, although omnipresent from all eternity, now permanently indwells and continues to fill every believer, and by His baptism unites all believers to Christ in one body. He never takes His departure from the feeblest of saints, but is ever present in each believer to testify of Christ, seeking to occupy them with Christ and not with themselves or experiences, resulting in the perseverance of the saints.

    (Mt. 28:18-19; Jn. 16:7-15; Acts 1:8; 5:3-4; Rom. 8:9; 14, 16; 1 Cor. 12:13, 2 Cor. 1: 22; Eph. 1:13; 4:30; 5:18).

  • We believe that God created man as His image and likeness to rule over the earth. But, in Adam’s sin humanity fell, inherited a sinful nature and became alienated from God. Thus, man is totally depraved and a sinner in thought, word and deed, totally helpless to remedy his lost condition.

    (Gen. 1:26; 3:6; 5:1; 6:5; Ps. 14:1-3; 51:5; Jer. 17:9; Mt. 7:11; 15:19; Rom. 3:10-19, 23; 5:12-21; 1 Cor. 11:7; 15:22; Eph. 2:1-3; Jas. 3:9; 1 Jn. 3:8).

  • We believe that the Lord Jesus Christ accomplished our redemption through His death on the cross as a representative, vicarious, substitutionary sacrifice, and that all who put their trust in Him are justified on the ground of His shed blood. We believe that eternal life is guaranteed to us by His literal, physical resurrection from the dead. Christ ascended to heaven and was victoriously seated at the Father’s right hand, and makes intercession for believers.

    (Ps. 22; Is. 53; Mt. 20:28; Mk. 16:6; Lk. 24:25, 35, 46; Jn. 3:16; 20:9, 17; Acts. 1:9, 11; Rm. 1:4; 5:1, 17; 8:27; 1 Cor. 15:1-9, 20; 2 Cor. 5:21; Eph. 2:8-9; Heb. 1:3; 2:17-18; 4:14; 5:7; 7:25; 8:1; 9:26; 1 Pet. 3:18; 1 Jn. 2:1-2; 3:1-2).

  • We believe we are saved by grace apart from our own works, but that we should maintain good works. That all true believers once saved are kept secure in Christ. That we are to live a holy life, increasingly being conformed to the image of Christ.

    (Jn. 1:12; 10:27-30; 14:16-17; Rm. 6:23; 8:1; 29-30; 38-39; Eph. 2:8-10; 4:1; Col. 1:10; Titus 3:5-8; Heb. 7:25; 1 Pet. 1:23).

  • We believe the church is the universal bride and body of Christ, composed of all the redeemed everywhere from the day of Pentecost until the return of Christ for His saints. Scripture teaches that there are local assemblies of believers who gather for the purpose of worship, Bible study, evangelism, fellowship and service.

    (Acts. 2:46-47; 20-28; 1 Cor. 1:1-2; 12:12-13; Eph. 1:22; 3:10; Col. 1:18; 1 Thess. 4:17; Titus 1:5; Heb. 13:7, 17).

  • We believe that the Lord Jesus Christ instituted the ordinances of Baptism and the Lord’s Supper to be observed by believers until His return.

    (Mt. 28:19-20; 1 Cor. 11:23-26).

  • We believe marriage is the legal, permanent until death, exclusive, comprehensive, and conjugal “one flesh” union of one man and one woman, intrinsically ordered to procreation and biological family, and in furtherance of the moral, spiritual, and public good of binding father, mother, and child. We believe that sexual acts outside marriage are prohibited as sinful. Consequently, we believe all Christians must resist and refrain from any and all sexual acts outside marriage.

    (Genesis 1:27-28, Genesis 2:18-24, Matthew 19:4-9, Mark 10:5- 9, Ephesians 5:31-33, Exodus 20:14, Leviticus 18:7-23, Leviticus 20:10-21, Deuteronomy 5:18, Matthew 15:19, Matthew 5:27-28, Romans 1:26-27, 1 Corinthians 6:9-13, 1 Thessalonians 4:3, Hebrews 13:4, Galatians 5:19, Ephesians 4:17-19, Colossians 3:5)

We believe that God created mankind in His image: male (man) and female (woman), sexually different but with equal personal dignity. Consequently, we believe Christians should affirm their natural born biological sex and refrain from any and all attempts to physically change, alter, or disagree with their predominant biological sex; including but not limited to elective sex reassignment, transvestite, transgender, or non binary “genderqueer” acts or conduct.

    (Genesis 1:26-28, Romans 1:26- 32, 1 Corinthians 6:9-11)

  • We believe in the personal, any-moment coming of the Lord Jesus Christ for the church to be followed by the Tribulation on earth which will culminate in the return of Christ to earth with the church to set up His Millennial Kingdom.

    (Zech. 14:1-9; Mt. 24:15-31; Rm. 13:11-14; 1 Thess. 4:13-18; Titus 2: 11-14; 1 Pet. 1:13-16; 1 Jn. 3:1-3; Rev. 20:1-6).

  • We believe in the bodily resurrection of the just and the unjust, the everlasting blessedness of the saved, and the everlasting punishment of the lost.

    (Dan. 12:2; Mt. 25:30, 46; Lk. 16:19-26; 1 Thess. 1:7-10; Rev. 20:4, 11-15).
